PRESS RELEASE: Wildlife Advocacy Organizations Disappointed in NRB Approval of the Wisconsin Wolf Management Plan
GLWA along with many concerned citizens and conservation groups raised serious concerns about the fairness and transparency of the process, and the fact that the NRB ignored overwhelming public opposition to the plan.
OCTOBER 2023 NEWSLETTER
The Wisconsin wolf plan has come under fire recently for its questionable ethics and the undue influence of anti-wolf hunters. We have concerns about the plan and its lack of transparency, science and public participation, all of which are vital for building trust and ensuring that decisions regarding wildlife conservation are inclusive and well-informed.
PRESS RELEASE: Wildlife Advocacy Organizations Condemn Wisconsin Wolf Policy
Today we are stating that our coalition will not participate in the Administrative Rules hearing which sets wolf hunting permanent rules and ask WDNR to reconsider the changes made to their wolf management plan before submitting to the NRB for approval.
Wisconsin’s wolf and wildlife policy is unscientific, unethical and racist
The Wisconsin DNR recently released their updated Wolf Management Plan. As wildlife advocates, scientists, and tribal members that have been engaged in the process for years, scrutinizing both the use of scientific evidence in the plan and the plan's update process, we feel the responsibility to publicly denounce that the process has not been "transparent, deliberative, or inclusive” as stated on the DNR’s website.
PRESS RELEASE: Response to the Wisconsin Wolf Management Plan
Yesterday, the Wisconsin DNR announced the final draft of the agency’s Wolf Management Plan. We will be cautiously optimistic as the plan moves forward for approval by the NRB and hope that the plan will continue to be critically reviewed and updated as we learn more about wolves in Wisconsin.
