What Just Happened to Wisconsin’s Grey Wolves?

In less than 72 hours, the state of Wisconsin allowed 216 wolves to be legally killed statewide, during the day or night using dogs, snares, traps, guns, night vision technology, and even running them down to exhaustion with snowmobiles. This hunt was detrimental to our wolf population and they cannot withstand another hunt this fall.

Press Release: Bill Would Remove Public Protections for Hounding Dogs Engaged in Bear and Wolf Fighting

The bill eliminates the requirement for bear and wolf hounders to carry rabies and license tags for their hunting hounds. A public hearing was held one day after the bill was released.

2017 Gun Deer Season in Review

For the second year in a row, the deer harvest numbers have been down statewide but up in the Northern Forest Zone. This comes with a “record high” population of 930-950 wolves in Wisconsin.
