Gray Wolves at Risk: You Power Their Legal Defense

Wolf pups with their mother: How many more wolf pups have to die? Donate now, every $100 is matched

Hello,

We broke the story. We put the records in the tribes’ hands. We got the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to admit it skipped the legally required tribal consultation, and the DNR to apologize. And still, wolf pups are dying while decisions are made behind closed doors.

Urgent update

On Tuesday, a federal appeals court heard arguments in the cases that decide whether gray wolves keep federal protection across the lower 48. The White House has also ordered Interior to act on wolf delisting within 90 days. If protections fall, Wisconsin’s hunt is already written and waiting to trigger. The window to fund our response is narrow.

A generous supporter has offered a match: every gift of $100 or more is matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $1,000. If just 10 people give $100, we unlock the full match and double our impact immediately.

Your gift funds:

  • Legal work to defend wolf protections and challenge the DNR’s decisions
  • Records requests and investigative research that expose what happens behind closed doors
  • Support for tribal partners and outreach demanding transparency from the Natural Resources Board and the DNR
  • Advocacy for real conflict prevention: fencing grants and prorated compensation

Why this matters: When protections are weakened or ignored, newborn pups and small packs pay first. We’ve already seen it. We’re pushing the agencies to follow the wolf plan, to be transparent, and to put science and democracy ahead of politics. Legal fights and investigations cost money, and time is not on the wolves’ side.
