We’ve held the line for another year — and right now, we’re 93% of the way to our September goal. (We double-checked the math. We’re an all-volunteer, no-corporate-funding outfit — precision is kind of our whole thing.)
Before you scroll on, give us two minutes. This is Krista’s video — a real encounter with a black wolf, howling on the shoreline. Stop what you’re doing. Watch. Listen. This is what the last 7% is for.
“For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.”
Rudyard Kipling, The Second Jungle Book (1895)
Turns out that’s not just a nice line from a children’s book. Researchers who’ve studied wolves in Yellowstone have found the same holds true in the wild — the pack keeps the wolf alive, and the wolf keeps the pack alive. Neither survives alone.
“We say we’re protecting the wolves. But look closer — we are the wolves, too.”
Melissa Smith, Executive Director, Great Lakes Wildlife Alliance
Every gift right now is matched, dollar for dollar. Give $50, we get $100. Give $200, we get $400. Closing that last 7% doesn’t take a miracle. It just takes a pack.
P.S. We know, another email. In our defense — wolves don’t stop howling until someone answers, either.
