BREAKING: Both Candidates Want to Silence the Howl. We Won’t Let Them.

Urgent Funding Alert

Both Candidates. Zero Science. Pro-Hunt. They’re Not Going to Stop Wolf Slaughter. We Are.

Silence the howl. That’s the plan.

David Crowley says he wants “guardrails.” Tom Tiffany’s bill already passed the U.S. House 211–204. Strip the campaign language away and there is no difference — both men have already decided wolves lose.

Here is what “delisting” actually means: packs run down with GPS-collared hounds until they’re cornered and torn apart. People on snowmobiles chasing wolves to exhaustion in the snow. Leg-hold traps and electronic calls built to mimic a distressed pup so a mother wolf comes running into range. This is not hypothetical. In February 2021, hunters killed 216 wolves in under 60 hours — more than 80% over quota — before the state could even shut it down. Wolves are going to die. That is not a maybe. The only open question is how many, and how fast.

Both candidates claim to be following the science. The science hasn’t been looked at in years, the scientists have been fired, and the field stations that did the monitoring have been shut down. They already know what they want the answer to be. We are the only ones standing in the way of them getting it. If you sit this one out, you are part of how the wolves lose.

“I hope everyone reading this knows how incredibly serious this is. Without us — together, financially, our time, blood, sweat, and tears — they’re going to kill our wolves.”

— Melissa Smith, Executive Director, GLWA

How we stop it

  • Challenging Wisconsin’s adaptive management plan directly — an endangered species doesn’t get managed by a harvest slider tuned to hunter satisfaction.
  • Litigating the wolf petition denial to force an independent state listing — the only durable barrier standing once federal delisting hits.
  • Getting citizens in front of state and federal lawmakers before this becomes final.
  • Making them do this legally, in the open, on the record — because so far, they haven’t.

  1. Based on TT’s legislative track for years, he’d be a much worse result for the wolves of Wisconsin, and their environs. Then again, left in Washington, he has even farther reaching options to pursue his wolf vendetta, as noted, and acted on.
