DON’T CRY WOLF

VOTE NO ON HR845

Here’s everything you need this week before Christmas. We’ve done the heavy lifting—now we need you to make the calls. This vote is CLOSE. Really, really close.

⏰ THIS WEEK’S TIMELINE

TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY: CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES. Call, call, call. Do NOT email—phone calls work. Help others call too. It’s really easy: put them on speakerphone, hand them the script below, and just have them read it. Get everyone you know calling.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT at 6PM: Take a break with us for Wildlife Wednesday. Join us for a special guest from Women for Wolves—Anjali Ranadivé will share her first testimony ever and how we can help each other in advocacy. Plus, we might even see some real wolves from their sanctuary and conservation center! She’s been helping us fight HR845 and you’ll want to hear her story.

THURSDAY: HR845 (the “Pet and Livestock Protection Act”) goes to full House floor vote. Stay tuned—we’ll be tweeting and keeping you posted on the floor vote as it happens. Many of us will be on pins and needles, so make sure you get outside, take care of yourself, and stay connected with us.

What happens next: Even if it passes the House, it still needs Senate approval AND President Trump’s signature. But if we stop it HERE, we stop it for good. That’s the ideal outcome—and it’s absolutely possible.

🐺 TAKE A BREAK WITH US – TOMORROW AT 6PM

Wildlife Wednesday with Anjali Ranadivé from Women For Wolves

Before the chaos of Thursday’s vote, join us tomorrow night at 6:00 PM for Wildlife Wednesday. Anjali, founder of Women for Wolves sanctuary in California, will share her first testimony at a commission meeting, talk about her wolf sanctuary and the incredible wolves she’s rescued, and we might even get to meet some of her pack live on camera. She’s been helping us with our social media campaign to fight HR845, and this is your chance to hear her story, get inspired, and learn how we can support each other in advocacy.

🔥 JOIN US TOMORROW AT 6PM

Take a breath. Get inspired. Then get back to fighting.

💪 WHAT WE’VE ALREADY DONE FOR YOU

Great Lakes Wildlife Alliance has been working around the clock on your behalf:

✓ Submitted ESA comments for all 10,000+ supporters on piping plovers, wolves, Karner blue butterflies, and monarch butterflies

✓ Created the white paper with data that destroys their lies (18 farms out of 64,000 affected = 0.028%)

✓ Active litigation in appellate court challenging Wisconsin DNR’s wolf management plan that ignored science and public comments (read here, here, and here)

✓ Attending House Natural Resources Committee meeting and will be at Thursday’s floor vote

✓ Educating legislators with facts they can’t ignore

We’re the only organization fighting the recreational wolf hunt based on violence, dogs, and cruelty. We don’t play nice with the hunting lobby—we fight them in court, in Congress, and in the media.

📣 WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

1. CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE (Multiple Times)

Do NOT email. PHONE CALLS WORK.

Call today. Call tomorrow. Call Thursday morning before the vote. They log every call. Be the call they can’t ignore.

“I’m a constituent and I urge you to vote NO on HR845. Voters oppose this bill—83% of Republicans and 90% of Democrats disapprove. Don’t cry wolf. Protect science-based wildlife management.”

FIND YOUR REPRESENTATIVE

2. SUBMIT YOUR ESA COMMENT (We Need Numbers)

We’re submitting highly technical papers and comments from scientists and organizations. But we also need NUMBERS. Individual comments show public support that Congress can’t ignore.

SUBMIT YOUR ESA COMMENT

3. SHARE ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Tag your representative directly. Use #VoteNoHR845. Make them see you.

🎯 KEY TARGETS TO CALL

WISCONSIN:

Rep. Glenn Grothman – He’s undecided and needs to hear from you NOW.

Rep. Mark Pocan and Rep. Gwen Moore – Promised to vote NO, but call to reinforce their commitment.

NATIONAL TARGETS:

If you have friends or family in Pennsylvania, Florida, or Texas, have them call their representatives. These states have key votes we can flip.

KEY TALKING POINTS:

📊 83% of Republicans and 90% of Democrats oppose gutting the Endangered Species Act (see poll here)

📊 Wisconsin has 1.8 MILLION deer. The deer herd is not at risk.

📊 Only 18 farms out of 64,000 (0.028%) were affected by wolf depredations in Wisconsin.

📊 This isn’t about livestock—it’s about the hound hunting lobby and welfare ranching subsidies.

⚠️ WHAT HR845 ACTUALLY DOES

NO JUDICIAL REVIEW

This bill cannot be challenged in court. A federal court already ruled the Trump administration’s wolf delisting was illegal—HR845 simply goes around that decision.

BYPASSES PUBLIC COMMENT

No input from scientists, tribes, or the public. Just a handout to the trophy hunting lobby.

SETS A DANGEROUS PRECEDENT

If they can do this to wolves, they can do it to any protected species. The Endangered Species Act protects the most vulnerable—and that means all of us.

WE FIGHT. YOU CALL. WE WIN.

We don’t have foundation restrictions telling us to play nice. We engage in direct confrontation and litigation when it matters. But we can’t do this without you.

Every phone call matters.
Every social media post matters.
Every dollar helps us keep the pressure on.

DONATE NOW

“Same recycled fear, different decade.”

Don’t let them win with lies.

HANG IN THERE. MAKE THOSE CALLS.

We’ve fought this battle before and won. We can do it again.

This is close. Really, really close. If you called yesterday, call again tomorrow. Call again Thursday. Show them you’re not going away.

  1. I\’m assuming that you need to be a WI resident to make a difference here? When you say call your rep, you mean if you live in Wisconsin, correct?

  2. Melissa and Friends, I am so frustrated. My computer got hacked and I\’m trying to figure it out. My husbands acct. got switched with mine.

I have made my phone calls to Rep. Pocan and one to Grothman\’s office. I can get on for our meeting tonight so I will see you there. – Judy
