Environmentalists who don’t vote in federal elections? 13,824,260
Non-voting and seldom-voting wildlife advocates can register to vote and that’s up to us. As stewards of our planet and other species we share with, we find ourselves at a critical juncture. The fate of our wild friends—their families, their delicate ecosystems, and their very existence—rests in our hands. 🌿🐺
The constant political attacks on wildlife and their homes may make you feel under siege. We know just how that feels. With your help, we’ve played great defense, beating back dozens of attacks. Now it is time to hop off this merry-go-round and make our voices heard at the ballot box. That is why we are launching our VOTE WILD campaign and are reaching out to you, our activists, to join the movement!
Meet Carol Blaney: She is a top-notch policy and voting expert. Carol Blaney will guide us through this labyrinth of decisions. Her expertise spans widely and she will tell us about what we can do to Vote Wild.
Carol Blaney is a retired National Park Service ranger from Yosemite, with MS degrees in botany and resource interpretation. She has always loved being outdoors and sharing her love for nature, and she is aiming to visit every Wilderness in the US. Carol and her husband John Sun moved to Claremont in 2021. Since then, she has spent many hours in the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park, observing and photographing its hundreds of amazing species. She also serves on the Leadership team of the Friends of the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park and Redlands Conservancy. If that wasn’t enough she is an adjunct professor in Environmental Studies at the University of Redlands and author! AND MORE
Policies affect the wildlife we cherish. They determine whether a pristine forest remains untouched or succumbs to development. It determines whether thousands of wolves are killed by snowmobiles or dogs. Our votes are the ink that writes these policies. We will show you where to look for candidates’ records. Imagine losing 28 species or more. That is what is on the line. Will they go extinct? Will Wolf pups inherit a realm where they can thrive? Our ballots hold the answers. 🗳️🐾
