Celebrate with us with a howl of relief! No wolf hunt this winter! 🐺

Two wolves nuzzling in the snow — Wisconsin, no wolf hunt this winter

We did it.
No wolf hunt in Wisconsin this winter.

I’m writing to you in tears.

Today marks the date that there will not be a wolf hunt in Wisconsin this winter. And I need you to sit with that for a moment — because for those of us who have been in this fight, who lived through February 2021, who have spent years building the legal cases and showing up to the meetings and filing the briefs and never, ever letting go — this moment means everything.

We can breathe. We are going into March. The packs are whole.

“It only takes dedicated people. That’s it. That’s the whole secret. And you proved it.”

This did not happen because of a powerful lobbying organization with millions of dollars. It happened because of you — a community of people who refused to look away. Who submitted comments to the wolf advisory committee. Who supported our national wolf recovery plan lawsuit. Who donated when it was hard and shared our work when it felt like no one was paying attention.

They know we are here now. Through our advocacy, through our past actions, through every fight we have shown up for — they have learned that they have to contend with us. And today, we won.

Today, I am letting out a howl of relief.
Pure, exhausted, grateful relief.

There is still so much work ahead. The fall will bring new threats. HR 845 still looms in the Senate. We will still fight to ensure wolves are never stripped from Endangered Species Act protections. We will be there — we will always be there.

But today is not that day. Today belongs to the wolves. And to you.

Two wolves in winter light

Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, on behalf of every wolf running free in Wisconsin’s northwoods tonight — thank you.

A generous donor is matching every gift —3/2 this week only.

We are so close. Every dollar you give right now is increased 3/2. Don’t wait.

320 to go.

The wolves just won. Let’s make sure we can keep winning.

And we’re not done.

Today we celebrate. But the Wisconsin Conservation Congress Hearing is April 13–15 — and we intend to make sure the fall hunt doesn’t happen either. We will be there. We hope you will be too.
